About Necocya

Our name rises from the very origin of the canton of Nicoya, rooted in the Náhuatl words Nicúa and Necocyanh. The latter is often interpreted as “land with water on both sides,” from necoc (on both sides) and atl or lauh (water or sea), evoking a place embraced by the ocean and shaped by the natural balance of its land.

At Necocya, we believe coffee is more than a drink—it is a ritual of pause, a moment where stories are quietly born. Inspired by the ancestral meaning of Nicoya, a land of harmony cradled by the sea, we imagine our coffee as a meeting point between tradition and the present.

Each cup begins in the mountains of Tarrazú and finds its soul in the spirit of Nicoya: an unhurried life, sincere conversations, and memories shared around the table. With sweet notes and whispers of caramel, our coffee awakens the senses while treasuring moments meant to last.

Just as the peninsula rests between two seas, Necocya brings generations together through an everyday gesture that transcends time. For within every cup lives not only coffee, but heritage, culture, and identity that endure.
